I have a Maltese mix, we call him a Meekapoo, who loves to be in the company of other dogs. He really doesn't discriminate against larger dogs, he loves them too, but I can be more relaxed when he's around the little guys, so he doesn't get inadvertently trampled on (it's happened before!). I'm sure there are other local small dog owners who want to get together, take a walk on the North County Trailway, or a stroll through FDR park or just a spin around the hood with some company. This is purel …

This is a group for dog lovers who want to create great spaces and fun gatherings for their poochies and themselves, in their neighborhoods. My hidden agenda for taking this group on, is based on my having 24 hours to kill in the Fort Lauderdale area before catching a plane. So, I decided to visit dog parks around town- and MAN-OH-WOMAN-OH-CANINE, do our dog 'parks' bite! So, I'm thinking we'll set up some meet-ups in typical dog gathering areas (New City and Kakiak dog runs, Rockland State Park …

PAWS is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1962 by Westport, Connecticut resident Betty Long to rescue homeless dogs and place them in permanent homes. In the early 1980s, our rescue efforts were expanded to include cats. PAWS rescues & rehomes approximately 115 dogs and 435 cats annually. Many of the dogs faced euthanasia at local pounds and most of the cats that we help are strays and abandoned cats that roam our streets. A portion of the pets that come to PAWS have been relinquished by …

This meetup is "going to the dogs"...Pugs to be precise!!! Okay, so you're owned by a Pug; that goes without saying! I am too, as are many others. Meet other local hiking enthusiasts. Make a new friend or three. Burn a few calories. Enjoy nature in our beautiful Westchester County, the Hudson Valley and beyond!! G.M.Trevelyan once said: "We are literally children of the earth, and removed from her our spirits wither or run to various forms of insanity. After scrolling through page after page of meetups that seemed too "organized" , oriented around a specific activity, already had thousands of members or always seemed to require RSVP's and advance ticket purchases, I realized I had to start my own meetup to accomplish what I really want - which is to meet cool new people for quality friendships. If you're like me, when you get to a certain age (ahem - namely 30's or so) you start to notice your friends marrying off, having kids, moving too far …

All are encouraged to suggest books and restaurants and to take turns leading the discussions. September Book: The Imperfectioni …
I want to bring local vegans living in the Northern NJ area together to bring awareness to the plight of animals living in the US. and globally. Serious issues regarding the mistreatment of animals being raised for food in the farming industry. Animals held captive and skinned alive for their fur. Dogs and cats still being gassed to death in gas chambers all over this country. How ag-gag laws could affect the future of reporting violence against animals in factories. I would like to enlighten th …
This group enjoys keeping fit while having fun walking and hiking in the great outdoors. We explore trails, parks, and beaches on weekends throughout the year. All events are intended to be easy to moderate in difficulty so that even those who are new to hiking can feel happy participating. However, reasonable physical fitness is necessary due to the nature of the activity, and this group is recommended for those who can walk comfortably for at least 2 hours. We don't go at a fast pace but also …
